dopo varie prove, ho capito che la mtu ottimale è di 1492, poichè gli 800ms di ping ci sono anche abbassandola a 576 o meno...
quindi è completamente inutile abbassarla, se per esempio dovessimo ricevere 3000bytes, con mtu di 1492 ci bastano due pacchetti, a distanza di 800ms l'uno dall'altro, mentre se avessimo mtu di 576 ci vorrebbero 6 pacchetti, a distanza di 800ms l'uno dall'altro... bè è una cazzata lasciarlo a 576.
certo qualcuno potrebbe dire che se un pacchetto andasse perso bisognerebbe ritrasmetterlo.. ma a quanto ho visto la rete gprs non è tanto instabile, anzi credo che 3 errori in una connessione di circa 2ore siano nulla...

ho fatto un po' di test ed ho avuto conferma
con mtu a 1496, vado in download a 4,06 kbytes di media, contro i 3,9 della mtu a 576.

0,7k di differenza...
ora mi rimane solo da vedere se riesco a spremerle di più questa gprs sotto linux... dove però ho dei problemini con la irda :\

vi allego lo screen di dumeter, considerate che la maggior parte delle tacche alla stessa altezza equivalgono a 4,4k
i download che corrispondono a quel monitor sono 2, ma non simultanei. (c'è qualke minuto di silenzio tra i due dw )

da notare il valore minimo record (almeno x me) di 548ms...

sono riuscito a far funzionare il tutto sotto linux!!!!
devo solo sistemare un paio di cose sul pppd, tipo compressioni e roba simile

Ottimo Nyo, sicuramente le impostazioni ottimale sono difficile da trovare, ma il miglioramento c'è stato....non posso provare le mie configurazioni wind e tim ma al più presto lo farò...
Cosa hai utilizzato per far andare tutto sotto linux, non penso ci siano driver ufficiali???

ecco i files che uso per connettermi con linux.
occhio che sono ben lontani dall'essere ottimizzati questi... scarico massimo ad 1,4k e devo capire cosa ci sia che gli da fastidio...oltre alle varie compressioni da utilizzare.

tra pochi giorni mi faccio prestare una SIM della WIND così provo il loro GPRS.
Da quello che ho sentito dire, la WIND sta installando ripetitori con codifica dei timeslot CS4, la + evoluta del mercato che permette di avere una bandwith massima x timeslot di 18,8kbps...
che se usata con 4 timeslot in download porta alla bellezza di 75.2kbps.... e download effettivo di 9,4 k/s....

il problema è che il mio 8310 è un classe 6, quindi 3+1 in download... con la wind andrebbe a 56.4kbps, 7k/s in download...

Nyo posso dirti che ora sono con il GPRS della wind...come avevo riportato sopra i mie dati...è sembra davvero ottimo...oltre che in treno da MILANO ad ANCONA prende quasi ovunque...questo per dire che la copertura è molto ampia....
