" But okay, what you first need to do is to find the highest overclock settings for your GeForce GTX 280 and for that you best use the latest beta of ATITool. Then when you know that you tune it a bit down and find out which version of EVGA is the most close to those setting on the lower front and you can than use that BIOS version to flash your standard version.
To flash you best use the latest version of nvFlash available on our downloads section and you will need a bootable DOS media. This can either be a floppy or better an USB memory stick that you format so that it is bootable and you put the nvFlash on it extracted and the different BIOS's. Once done you boot from that device in DOS and you can use the commands listed below todo what you want to do.
nvFlash v5.xx Commands
"nvflash -b backup.rom" (Original BIOS Backup)
"nvflash -5 -6 newbios.rom" (Normal BIOS Flashing)
"nvflash -4 -5 -6 newbios.rom" (Forced BIOS Flashing)"
when I advice to use ATITool it is because it has an option to find the maximum overclock speeds individually for the core and memory. And about the flash commands if you use yoru own BIOS and tweak it the normal command will work, when you use any other BIOS you might need to force it due to the sub device ID can be different between different pre-overclocked versions and then you have to force that flash due to that small difference. And no the forced method is not officially documented, but we know it and used it already a lot."
