Si le foto possono essere interessanti, ma resta il problema di fondo...... questi benedetti ATHLON XP funzionano con le schede madri che montano il chipset AMD 760 mpx ????

"Although we've seen reports contrary to this, we noticed no USB 1.1 compatibility problems with the reference Paulaner board. Using the only two ports available on the board we captured video from an Intel USB web camera while constantly using a Microsoft USB Intellimouse without any compatibility issues. While this is clearly not exhaustive testing, we thought it was worth mentioning."

AMD to Deprive Athlon XP and Duron of SMP Support
Posted 12/18/01 at 5:44 pm by Rat

Until recently, Athlon XP and Athlon MP processors aimed at different market segments differed only by the price. Athlon MP processors intended for use in dual-processor servers and workstations now feature absolutely the same architecture as Athlon XP CPUs used in desktop systems. Moreover, it is simply impossible to distinguish between Athlon XP and Athlon MP via software, when they are already installed into the mainboard. Nevertheless, Athlon MP processors are selling at $50 higher price than Athlon XP with the same core clock.
As a result, there appeared a tendency, when most users started using Athlon XP processors in their dual-Socket A systems instead of the Athlon MP, or even Duron CPUs, which work in dual-processor configurations very well, although they are targeted for the value market. Of course, AMD, which is certainly getting lower revenues in the server market, is not happy about this situation. That is why, as this Ukrainian site reports, AMD is going to deprive its non-server Athlon XP and Duron CPUs of the possibility to work in dual-processor configurations on the hardware level. The thing is supposed to happen when Athlon XP and Duron families shift to new 0.13micron Thoroughbred and Appaloosa cores.

    Good-Bye Duron MP!
Posted 12/18/01 at 7:14 am by Rat

As we have expected today AMD was supposed to announce its new server processor family – Duron MP. However, despite our expectations, it didn’t happen. Moreover, the Duron MP CPUs were completely removed from the once again changed official company roadmap. Also we no longer see the Value Server and Workstation market sector on the company roadmap, which was initially regarded as the application field for Duron MP processors. This way, everything signals that we will never see a low-cost server solution from AMD.
The official AMD representatives were very reserved about this fact and comments just a little bit on the quiet disappearance of the Duron MP CPUs from AMD’s plans. As we read over here, AMD considered the launching of Duron MP to be an unjustified move, as the server market sets certain requirements to the CPU performance, which the Duron processors do not comply with. We wonder what they have been thinking about before?
We believe that AMD decided to give up the idea of launching server Duron MP processors for a totally different reason: because of its low economic effect. Just like in case of Athlon MP CPUs, which are hardly any different from the regular Athlon XP processors, Duron MP were supposed to be the same Durons but officially supporting dual-processor configurations and hence costing more. At the same time, we all know that the common non-server Durons do work in pairs pretty well (see our article called Dual Duron at Home: Worth Trying or Not?). In this respect, it is quite doubtful that the few users willing to have budget server solutions on low-cost processors for home or small office needs, will be happy to pay extra money for the official dual-processor configurations support, if they can easily do without it. Especially, since Dual-Socket A mainboards based on AMD-760MPX turned out far from cheap. Therefore, the market share, which could be occupied by Duron MP processors gets really insignificant. That is why AMD didn’t see any profit in introducing Duron MP CPUs.
Moreover, a year later Athlon MP processor family will little by little move into the low-cost price category due to the launching of the ClawHammer solutions for workstations and dual-processor servers.

Predefinito AMD'S Athlon™ MP Validated for Mental Ray Software

    http://www.amdmb.com/news.php#News-3566

AMD's Athlon™ MP has recieved validating from one of the world's leading rendering software companies. Without a doubt, the Athlon MP brings AMD into the forefront of CAD Design and Visual Creation.
"AMD and mental images worked hand-in-hand to test, evaluate and provide leading visual computing solutions that enhance the performance and productivity for segments such as Digital Content Creation (DCC) and CAD/ CAM markets," said Tom-Michael Thamm, director Product Development of mental images. "We are pleased with this new effort as it will help ensure that both users and software vendors receive a positive customer experience and to ensure that applications built using mental ray technology run smoothly and reliably on AMD processor-based computers around the world."
