No, sinceramente io non l'ho provato...

AMD Athlon™ 64 Processor Driver for Windows XP allows the system to automatically adjust the CPU speed, voltage and power combination that match the instantaneous user performance need.
Hummmm
I have been having a couple of issues with the Last AGP system. I was getting odd freezes and lock ups when the system was sitting with a screensaver or just at the desktop for a long period of time. This was happening at odd intervals of between 3 to 8 hours. So I loaded up a whole heap of system monitoring tools, some of which were supplied with the motherboard and others free off the net like Sysmatrix and Motherboard Monitor. When the system froze I still had full view of the monitor so I could look at what these utilities could tell me about the CPU temperature, utilization, HDD activity etc. My first guess was that the motherboard was adjusting the power to the fans which was controlling the water cooling pump and the CPU may have been overheating. But the CPU showed no sign of overheating and during lock-ups it was sitting on an extremely suspiciously cool 22/23 degrees (Celsius). One thing I did notice with one of the lock-ups was that the front side bus was sitting at about 186 instead of 200. So I sat and watched the CPU speed for a while and noticed that it would go up and down, fluctuation between 15-20% around the norm. This was only happening when the system was idle. If I was running a 3D app or a benchmark it was rock solid at 2.4GHz. Then I remembered my laptop had a CPU driver. In essence, this driver offers the same feature as the PowerNow! utility for Athlon XPs. It allows the operating system to control the CPU to save power. When the system was idle it would slow down the CPU to reduce the power consumption. After I downloaded and installed the driver from AMD's web site I no longer had any problem. Maybe the default WinXP driver had been dropping the voltage too low. Now the temperature when the system is idle sits around 40 degrees (Celsius).
