Caution: The Catalyst™ Control Center requires that Microsoft's .NET Framework Version 1.1 be installed. Without .NET Version 1.1 installed the Catalyst™ Control Center will not launch properly, and the user will see an error message as a result

Caution: The Remote Wonder™ 3.02 software is intended to support Remote Wonder™ and Remote Wonder™ II products. Remote Wonder™ Plus user should continue to use the software provided with the product.
Note: The ATI WDM Driver Install Bundle contains both the ATI WDM Driver versions 8.17 and 4.07. The setup program automatically detects the ATI All-in-Wonder® or ATI VIVO™ product installed in your system and installs the appropriate ATI WDM components.

The WDM version 8.17 is installed on:
· All-in-Wonder® 9600 Series
· All-in-Wonder® 9800 Series
· All-in-Wonder® 9700 Series
· All-in-Wonder® X600 Series
· All-in-Wonder® X800 Series
The WDM version 4.07 (6246) is installed on:
· Radeon® 9200 series or earlier All-in-Wonder® products.
· ATI VIVO™ products

ATI Desktop product family support

The Catalyst™ software suite is designed to support the following ATI desktop products:

Note: As of January 1, 2004, Microsoft no longer accepted certification submissions for the Microsoft® Windows® Millennium Edition operating system. The ATI Catalyst™ CREW however is committed to all its customers and is now providing non certified WHQL software drivers for users of the Windows Millennium Edition operating system. Windows Millennium Edition users can obtain the software driver at: http://www.support.ati.com/. Windows 98/98SE is supported through the ME driver.
New Features

This section provides information on new features introduced in the Catalyst 5.9 software suite. New features include:

* Driver Message Events
* Directional Motion Adaptive Deinterlacing Algorithm

Driver Message Events

Catalyst™ 5.9 introduces Display Abstraction Layer (DAL) activation of driver message events for notification of controller configuration changes. This feature will apply to all supported operating systems.
Directional Motion Adaptive Deinterlacing Algorithm

Catalyst™ 5.9 introduces directional motion adaptive deinterlacing algorithm through the 3D shader. The algorithm will detect edges in 5 different directions. This reduces artifacts, and improves the overall detinterlace video quality.
Issues Resolved in Catalyst™ Software Suite 5.9

The following section provides a summary of the issues that have been resolved in the latest version of Catalyst™. These include:

* Battlefield 2: The game no longer exits to the Windows desktop after the game logo is displayed
* Endorphin: Running the application under Windows XP no longer results in hesitation being noticed during simulation or playback
* Max Payne 2: Erratic mouse pointer behavior is no longer noticed within the game's menu after a short time period of game play
* MU: Opening a chat window and playing the on-line game no longer results in Hesitation being noticed when pressing the Enter key
* Silent Hunter 3: Enabling all video options within the game and setting the particle density to 100, along with setting Anti-Aliasing to 6X and Anisotropic Filtering to 16x, no longer results in display corruption on the left portion of the display
* Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic 2: Running the Dantoonie level of the game no longer results in hesitation being noticed
* Terminator 3: The game no longer fails to respond and a VPU Recover message no longer occur after loading the game character
* The Catalyst Control Center no longer displays blank pages when quickly exiting and re-launching the Catalyst Control Center while hot-plugging or hot-unplugging a CRT display device
* Installing an All-in-Wonder into a system containing an ATI Radeon Xpress 200 series and an ATI Theater 550 Pro no longer results in loss of signal error message when setting the country region to Sweden
* HDTV support may still be displayed within the control panel with ATI products that do not support HDTV
* Connecting two display devices using the DVI and CRT connectors on a system containing an ATI Xpress 200 results in the system failing to resume when entering standby state
* Catalyst Control Center: The Overdrive Automated Clock Configuration Utility may continue running even after the user selects apply or cancel in the utility's confirmation window
* Connecting two display devices using the DVI and CRT connectors on a system containing an ATI Xpress 200 no longer results in the system failing to resume when entering standby state. Further details can be found in topic number 737-19538
* Catalyst Control Center: Connecting a TV as the only display device to an ATI Radeon X300/X600 series no longer results in the Signal Format found in the Adjustment page of the TV Properties being labeled as Unknown
* Three of the four ATI entries found in the Add or Remove Programs for Windows XP Japanese version, are no longer displayed in English
* The Catalyst Control Center shortcut is now removed when selecting to uninstall the ATI software driver
* Catalyst Control Center: The Overscan slider bar now displays a Minimum, Medium and Maximum setting for All-in-Wonder SCART boards
* WDM version numbers are no longer documented in the Information Center of the Catalyst Control Center for ATI products that do not support WDM drivers
* An intermittent error message is no longer experienced when selecting all of the aspects within the Catalyst Control Center quickly
* The limited account user no longer has the ability to add a short cut for the profile manager in the system tray
* Overdrive settings no longer revert back to the default setting when connecting a secondary display device and enabling extended desktop mode
* Moving the slide bar found in the Adjustments aspect of the Catalyst Control Center are now restored to their pervious levels when clicking the discard button
* A horizontal shifting issue when using the capture application is now resolved
* Changes to the audio settings are now retained after a system reboot when using the ATI Theater 550 Pro
* Resuming from suspend mode no longer results in the audio level returning to its default value
* Poor quality of static texture and scrolling text when watching live TV on system containing an ATI All-in-Wonder X800 series product is no longer noticeable
* Catalyst Control Center: The hot-key list is now dynamically populated to reflect the enable/disable status
* The Use Manual Detection Only translation for traditional Chinese is now correct
* The Overscan/Underscan option found in the Catalyst Control Center has now been translated properly for the Russian language
* The ability to navigate within the Catalyst Control Center while a confirmation dialog box for the Catalyst Control Center is displayed is no longer possible
* The Apply button is now available when making a change to 3D aspect page in the Catalyst Control Center
* Intermittent launch failures of the Catalyst Control Center is now resolved
* Connecting two display devices to the Radeon X700 using the DVI and CRT connectors no longer results in display corruption being noticed when booting Windows XP
* Connecting an HDTV and a CRT display device followed by disabling the CRT and rebooting the system no longer results in the HDTV failing to display an image and the CRT becoming active again
* HDTV support no longer fails to be detected properly after connecting a CRT and TV to the ATI Radeon Xpress 200 series
* Display corruption is no longer noticed on the secondary display device when disabling extended desktop mode
* Setting Anti-Aliasing to 4x in the Catalyst Control Center no longer results in a blank window or an error message being displayed when launching Java plug in
* Hesitation is no longer noticed during the opening cinematic of Madagascar when rotating the display device by 180 degrees
* Display corruption is no longer noticed when running the Codecreatures benchmark when the FrameBuffer is set to 64MB on system containing an ATI Radeon Xpress 200 series
* An extraordinarily long delay is no longer noticed when resuming from an S3 state
* Overlay corruption is no longer noticed when turning off the primary display device in systems containing an ATI Radeon Xpress 200 series
* The display resolution options of 800x600 and 640x480 mode are no longer available within the Display Manager aspect after rotating a desktop that is rotated by 90 or 270 degree
* Running 3D billboard under XP and having the application window display on the left side of the primary display, no longer results in the 3D screen image staying on the left side when dragging the application to the right side of the display device
* A black screen image is no longer displayed when entering a full screen DOS prompt when using an ATI Radeon 9800 XT under Windows XP
* The Windows XP Professional x64 Edition operating system no longer prompts the user for confirmation of the un-install of ATI Parental Control when running the ATI un-attended un-install
* Entering standby mode under the Windows XP operating system no longer results in display corruption being noticed or the operating system failing to respond
* Display corruption when using the TV-Out composite setting has now been resolved for the ATI Radeon Xpress 200 series
* Video corruption is no longer noticed when playing a DVD under Windows XP MCE
* Live TV no longer appears choppy when using and ATI Radeon X300 and two ATI Theater 550 Pro tuner cards and outputting to PiP in PowerCinema
* Video jitter is no longer noticed when playing back video using overlay with DXVA
* The German language control panel text no longer appears truncated when using 96 DPI

Known Issues for Catalyst™ Software Suite 5.9

The following section provides a summary of open issues in the latest version of Catalyst™. These include

* City of Heroes: Playing the game under Windows XP Media Center Edition may results in display corruption being notice when attempting to task-switch between the game and the desktop. Further details can be found in topic number 737-19792
* Prince of Persia: Sands of Time: Attempting to launch the game under Windows with an ATI Radeon X800 XL installed results in an error message being displayed. Further details can be found in topic number 737-19787
* The Apply button in the Custom settings of the Advanced mode found under the Catalyst™ Control Center Video standard settings is grayed out when playing a media file. Further details can be found in topic number 737-497
* Connecting an HDTV to an ATI Radeon X700 series may result in the HDTV being detected as a CRT or TV under the Windows XP operating system. Further details can be found in topic number 737-20575
* Attempting to install the integrated WDM driver under Windows XP may result in an error message being displayed indicating that the hardware is not installed because the install Wizard cannot find the necessary software. Further details can be found in topic number 737-20576.
* Connecting a CRT and a TV may result in the TV not being automatically detected under Windows XP MCE when using an ATI Radeon 9550/9600/9650 series. Further details can be found in topic number 737-20577
* Using the Custom option when installing the software driver results in the Theater 550 software driver not being present. Further details can be found in topic number 737-20579

To view a known or resolved issue, do the following:

1. Go to: support.ati.com. The ATI Customer Care web page is displayed.
2. In the top left hand pane, click Advanced Search. The Advanced Search pane is displayed.
3. Under Search Type: Select the By: ID option.
4. Enter the Topic number.
5. Click Go.

Downloading the ATI Catalyst™ Software Suite

This section provides information on downloading the Catalyst™ Software Suite for your ATI Radeon® product. The ATI Catalyst™ Crew recommends that you create a central location for your ATI Catalyst™ downloads. To do this, follow these steps.

1. Right-click on any open area of your desktop. A drop down menu is displayed.
2. Select New->Folder. A new folder is created on your desktop.
3. Name the folder Catalyst™ Downloads.
4. Navigate to the http://ati.com. The ATI Technologies Inc. home page is displayed.
5. Select Customer Care ->Find a Driver. The Drivers and Software download web page is displayed.
6. Select the software or driver you require.
7. Click Download. A File download dialog box is displayed.
8. Click Save. The Save As dialog box is displayed.
9. Navigate to the Catalyst™ Download folder, and click Save.

You have successfully saved the software driver to your desktop.
Uninstalling the ATI Control Panel and Display Driver

This section provides information on uninstalling the previous versions of your ATI Control Panel and ATI Display Driver for your Radeon® product.
Note: If you are using Windows 2000 or Windows XP, ensure that you have logged in with system administrative rights.

Before you can install the latest Catalyst™ software driver for your Radeon® product, you must uninstall the previous ATI Control Panel. To do this, follow these steps:

1. Navigate to the Add/Remove programs tool provided by Microsoft. This tool is found in the Control Panel.
Note: Ensure all other applications are closed before continuing with the uninstall of the ATI Display Driver.
2. Click the Change/Remove button. The ATI Control Panel Setup window is displayed.
3. Select Remove, and click Next. A Confirm File Deletion dialog box is displayed.
4. Click OK. The ATI Control Panel Setup window is displayed.
5. Select No, and click Finish. You are returned to the Add/Remove Program tool.

You have successfully uninstalled the ATI Control Panel.

You are now ready to uninstall the ATI Display Driver. To do this, follow these steps:

1. Select ATI Display Driver in the Add/Remove Program tool.
2. Click the Change/Remove button.
Note: If you have multiple display adapters installed, a dialog box will appear instructing you to choose which ATI Display driver to uninstall. Click the Select All button.
3. Click Yes when prompted to confirm the uninstall of the ATI Display Driver.
4. Reboot your system as prompted to compete the uninstall of the ATI Display Driver.
Note: If you are prompted to start the installation of a display driver upon boot up, click CANCEL

You have successfully uninstalled the previous version of the ATI Display Driver and ATI Control Panel.
Installing the latest Catalyst™ Software Suite

This section provides information on installing the latest Catalyst™ Software Suite for your Radeon® product. To install the driver, follow these steps:

1. Navigate to the Catalyst™ Download folder on your desktop. Double-click on the folder to view its content.
2. Double click the Catalyst™ software suite you have downloaded. Accept all the default prompts.
3. Restart your system as required.

You have successfully installed the latest Catalyst™ software suite.
