Ora cìè una nuova versione beta anche per Windows:

Nuovo metodo di accesso ai files solo nell'eseguibile a 64-bit, quello a 32-bit è come prima. C'è anche un nuovo modulatore "ASDM7" che è simile alla variante adattiva ASDM5.

Questa versione a 64-bit sarebbe bene da paragonare a 3.6.1.2 di Windows. Fatemi sapere come il paragone va da voi...

Dopo un iniziale entusiasmo, principalmente dovuto al sollievo delle mancate mitragliate al cambio di brano, la 3.6.1.2 dopo qualche giorno di ascolti è apparsa effettivamente troppo aggressiva nel registro medio-alto, senza grande possibilità di correzione attraverso l'uso dei vari modulatori. La nuova B4 appare per ora assai meglio equilibrata tonalmente, così come mi sembra buono il nuovo ASDM7.
Per ora la palma della meglio suonante resta, nel mio setup, la 3.4.1 ma questa nuova sembra molto promettente. Diamo tempo al tempo....

Geoffrey Arnstrong, Sound Galleries (Monaco) and I very much like ASD7 when doing PCM to DSD 256 conversion. Some of the "bite" especialy after changing from Win 8 to WS2012+AO is smoothed out. The tone / timbre of Pincus Zuckerman violin recording from 2006, sounds just like the the Pincus Zuckerman I heard 4 weeks ago in Budapest, and the PZ Geoffrey Armstrong heard one year ago in Monaco. It's like hearing your mother's voice, you recognize it right away


We don´t like ASD7 for DSD 128 to DSD256 upsampling, the air / reverberation becomes too much. DSD7 remains our clear favorite for DSD to DSD

in my setup (I only use PCM>DSD128) I've found ASDM7 better than ASDM5 but always a little bit too round, they sounds both a little too fat for me, so polysinc+dsd7((6100) remains my best combination.

The choice of SD Modulator is very DAC dependant. Also, if we were not using WS2012 + AO , but Win 8 instead, I believe we would be still preferring DSD7

WS 2012 + AO made very big difference. In all these years of HiFi, it's the biggest change I have noticed

Last night, I reviewed the LPS choices for my E20. The question was, who do I want to feed my DAC ? Paul Hynes, Teddy Pardo or Alex Crespi with John Swenson ? Then the choice became crystal clear and I placed my order with Alex for a Uptone Audio JS-2

The question is how will it score on my SQ differential chart. The OEM SMPS has a 3 loop ferrite on it

It will take about a month for it to get to Europe and I will try it out in Monaco with Geoff's E22 as well

Not necessarily. wS2012+ AO makes a huge difference when there is heavy CPU processing going on. When CPU load is very light, the improvement that WS2012 + AO makes is smaller. There is a chance that Win 8 in safe mode might sound as good

We need more comparison test to figure out the best sounding OS for NAA
