su VR-Zone è apparso un interessante confronto tra la ASUS Rampage Extreme II & P6T deluxe (OC Palm Edition)
Conclusion
Asus' Rampage II Extreme and P6T Deluxe are two solid offerings that left me with an overall good impression. Both boards feature a good set of features and solid performance that will satisfy overclockers as well as power users. Given the constraints imposed by the increased number of memory slots and the larger CPU socket area, Asus has done a decent job with only a few layout issues, most notably the obstruction of the PCIe 1x slot on the Rampage.
These two boards are also worthy of consideration for those looking to run CrossfireX or SLI setups, especially for the latter given the string of problems that has plagued nForce chipsets. Bear in mind that triple-SLI is severely limited on the P6T Deluxe to only single slot cards due to the layout of the slots. Since anyone who wants triple-SLi is hardly going to settle for single-slot cards, so between the two boards the Rampage II Extreme is the only viable solution for triple-SLI.
With regards to overclocking, both the P6T Deluxe and Rampage II performed similarly. It seems that to find any difference (or lack thereof) between the two would require far more detailed and extreme testing. However, we can safely say that for the majority of people out there, the P6T will more than suffice.
Beyond the merits of the boards however, bear in mind that Core i7 does not hold significant performance advantages over Core 2 in all areas. Core i7 takes the biggest lead in multithreaded applications such as video encoding. For gamers however, Core 2 provides the most value for money at this point in time.
Still, the X58 does not disappoint, and the newly integrated memory controller as well as Quickpath Interface brings about significant benefits. Also, we do not doubt that the ICH10R will deliver the same solid performance seen on the ICH9R, especially for SATA and RAID.
