The guys over at Extremesystems forum have managed to get their hands on a picture of Gigabyte's new EX58-Extreme motherboard.
According to the post, this is still not the final version, but the v0.2 sample and some things will change in the production model. Featuring a special and quite bulky cooling system, it is now clear why Gigabyte decided to brand it as an "extreme" motherboard series.
Unlike previously seen X58 solutions from Gigabyte and some other companies, the new Gigabyte EX58-Extreme comes with a rather interesting cooling system that was derived from Gigabyte's VGA cooling system called multi-core. The base of the cooling is the waterblock for the northbridge which is connected to the VRM part and the ICH10R southbridge by a set of heatpipes. Things get a bit weird as you take a look at the next picture which includes a gigantic dual-heatsink module that can be added to the northbridge.
Other features include support for 3-way SLI and CrossfireX, triple-channel memory, ten SATA ports and much more. This will probably be the motherboard that we will hear more about as with such cooling system this might easily be a record breaker, at least as soon as Intel's Nehalem shows its face in November. "
il socket sarà anche grande... però i fori per il fissaggio del dissiparore cpu... con i fori così larghi ci vorranno delle signore staffe anche per i wb...
la batteria inoltre finisce diritta sotto il dissipatore stock della prima vga.. sarà così impossibile metterle a bordo mobo queste batterie?

Ahh adesso ho capito meglio come è il fissaggio del dissy ad aria+ wb della Giga. Effettivamente ha un aspetto interessante...

Although we've been aware of the CPU and memory Voltage issue of the Core i7 and the X58 chipset, the first official word on it all has come not from Intel, but rather Asus by the means of a sticker on the memory slots of its P6T Deluxe motherboard.
This seems to indicated that the solution to the problem wasn't as easy as it was thought to be and seperating the Voltage might either be more complicated, or it could just be that the first generation of X58 will have to live with combined Vcore and Vmem.
The sticker reads "Accord to Intel CPU SPEC, DIMMS with Voltage settings over 1.65V may damage the CPU permanently. We recomment that you install the DIMMs with the Voltage setting below 1.65V" and if that's not warning enough, we don't know what is, as frying a Core i7 won't be a fun or cheap experience.

Si sa gia quale mobo monteranno il supporto per l'overvolt separato della ram???
la gigabyte extreme l'ha gia??
Comunque sono daccordo con pippo,i colori delle ram sono orribili,speriamo le cambino seno dovro riverniciare!
P.S.:è un vizio della gigabyte esagerare col rame soprattutto per le prime versioni!
